Snorkeling pics, Mama Mia, and Space

The other day I went snorkeling with Marci, Everett, Sarah, and Nathan to the Tide pools.
It was a lot of fun. Here are some pics...

Our saturday night event this week was Mama Mia projected in the EMAX. It was a lot of fun! A ton of people showed up and we had free ice cream and popcorn!

Last night there was another space show. A guy from Cirque du Soleil was performing in the show along with Melina who is a volunteer here she performed her fire spinning so a bunch of us went to support her. She did beautifully and got the loudest applause. It was a fun time!
Tomorrow Michael, Jane and I are going on an adventure to the Hilo waterfalls. I am really excited! I heard its beautiful and a lot of fun!

Pictures: are all from the night of Mama Mia, snorkeling adventure and at SPACE performance!

Albino Concert

Last night the friday night activity was a concert. Albino is kind of like a reggae/soul group. Not much singing or anything but lots of instrumentals. They were pretty good! There was a lot of dancing! Mike this is for you.. i saw this guy and thought of you!!--

Here are some more pictures from the night... Everett and I, Sarah Everett & I, and the band...

Where I live!!

So I've had a few requests to show what my room looks like and my surroundings. I live in Hale 2. Which is also know as the Lanai (or the kitchen/dinning area). I live above the kitchen. So here are some photos of my room...
the community room in Hale 2, and an outside look. But it's kind of surrounded by trees. But here is a photo of Hale 3 which is a guest housing area right next to where I live. And that is what it looks like from the outside on the inside of the trees. Enjoy!!

Snorkeling, Pele, other fun things

A couple days ago I went snorkeling for the first time! It was a lot of fun! I got to see some really cool fish! I went with Mat, Hanna, Sarah, and Melina. We went to this place called the Tide Pools. It is down the street like 10 mins. I am going again on Saturday. I guess there has been this big turtle around so it would be cool to see that.

So 2 days ago Sarah, Jon, Hanna, Melissa and I woke up at 4 am and went to see and visit Pele. She is the goddess of this Island. Also she is the volcano down the road 10 miles. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. It was also a full moon. Pele is right on the ocean as well. It was so beautiful!!! We started to leave as the sun was setting!!! Its like a mile hike in. And on the way back to the car we got really LOST. We were hiking around in lava rocks for about 2 hours. Somehow we missed the road and ended up all the way on the other side of the road! It was horrible at the time because no one had water. We were so dehydrated when we got back to the car. I was ever so glad to see people other than the ones I was with. Melissa sprained her ankle and luckily that was the only injury from our trip.

A couple days ago we had Ohana night again. It was the massage exchange party. It was awesome! Megan gave me a massage and she used to be a massage therapist for 10 years. I slept so good that night!

Since the last time I checked in there has been 4 people who have left and about 5 new people. Its crazy how fast time is going and how quickly people come and go here...

Oh so since there was a big group in last week during my birthday the kitchen didn't make a cake for me but I got one on Tuesday night... it was really good! It was chocolate sponge cake with this custer filling and the icing was made of cream cheese and whip cream! YUM!!!

Nothing else is really happening... just been hanging out by the pool and going to workshops... I had a water watsu the other day and that was amazing. Its where the massage therapist guides you through water stretching and massaging you. It was really relaxing!!

Work has been really fun!! A bunch of us made up housekeeping super names... mine is maidy the maid... and my super power is that I teleport... at least for today! Some of the other names are... Sadie the cleaning lady, Bernie, Stan the cleaning man, and Glenda. . we like to have lots of fun while working...

Kehena Beach

So today I went back to the beach. And we went this morning so there was more sun on the beach. I did get a little sunburned but it was so worth it..... because... the dolphins were out this morning.... Melissa and I swam out to where they where and swam with them... it was so cool to be that close.. to see there facial features... it was awesome... the water was pretty choppy today so you couldn't see much under water but when they would come up you could see them pretty good...
some would even do tricks every now and then. they weren't close enought to get a picture though.... so that was the cool part of my day.. this afternoon I went to the pool for like 3 hrs and read my book and chatted with people... but tomorrow I am back to work.. tonight I am going to this astrology class... it should be pretty cool!!

All the pictures are from the beach today!

So its been a couple days since my last update!! Lots of things to talk about! So yesterday was my birthday!! I am now 23 years old! So a couple nights ago I went to this thing called Space with some of the girl and a couple guys. One of my housekeeping shift leaders Eva was apart of it. Anyways... Space is an event that this fire team puts on. where they spin fires all these different ways and there is also some ariel dancing! It was such a cool event!

Once a week we do this thing called Ohana night (family night) this past week we all went to the field of dreams and had a dance party/going away party. It was a lot of fun. Melina, Jai and Satya spun fire.
This week's ohana night is going to be a lot of fun.. its a massage exchange party. There are a lot of volunteers that are massage trained. Here are a couple pics from the night. One is of fire spinning, one is Sarah and I, and one is Melissa and her wings!

Also, Yesterday was my birthday!!! Ah.. my day consisted of 2 meetings and then work till 4. It wasn't that bad. It was pretty fun!! We had a good time. The big group of 160 people are in right now. So things are a little crazy! After work i read a little and then went to the pool for a while. It was very refreshing! Oh so I just started reading Eat, Pray, Love last week.. Its really good so far... After dinner there was a going away party/ hang out for one of the volunteers that is leaving on Friday. I went to that and a bunch of us played UNO for quite a long time...then we switch locations and played some more UNO... Then Davey came over and played us some songs on his ukeleile(sp?) --- We ended up going to bed at like 2ish...
Today, I had a day off! I woke up for breakfast and then went to the point for a while. I decided that I needed to make a list of goals for my time here. After lunch Marina and I went to the Kehena Beach. It's a black sand beach about 5 miles away. We got a ride there and then we hitchhiked back! First time I've ever hitchhiked but its normal here and its the only way to get around! I forgot to bring my camera but next time I go I will try to take some photos... Thats pretty much it... here are some pictures from around property....

Day 3 and 4-first day of work!!!

Today was my first day of work... and let me tell you... boy is it nothing like the canyon!! For those who don't know- the canyon is the young life camp I worked at last year... also I am doing housekeeping.... so our day starts at 8:30.. I get there a couple mins early and no one is there..... I learned that if you have to work at 8:30 that means you leave at that time and roll in when you get there ... first thing we do is have a check-in with eachother....today was my training day.. Davey was my trainer... he's been here a little over a year and is from Santa Monica, CA... he was very impressed with my housekeeping skills... it is an adjustment to fold things different ways and to make beds differently... Davey and I were making a queen bed and I was putting the pillow case on and tucked it and he was like woah what did you do that is cool... its like a square... Davey and I finished our stuff and met up with the other group and took a 30 min break... then we had to clean hale 4 which wasn't bad... now its about lunch time.. davey and I are driving back to wash shed and he says... "you did great today but you don't have to go so fast remember your in Hawaii and were slower paced-go at your own speed and have fun- if we get to it we get to it..if not there is always tomorrow" oh yeah and our lunch break is an hour and a half... so at 1:30 I go back to the shed...we have another check-in.... now there is a new shift leader Eva.. She is crazy!!! really funny and just altogether big personality...I walked into the shed after lunch and she is blasting music and dancing away... after check in we went to clean hale 3 which was just remodeled and then we went to a new building that is super nice... its built out of bamboo... then it was about 4 and we were done for the day... So that is what my work day looks like... its extremely chill and slow paced which I will have to get used to... But over all it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the group that I got to work with today.... tonight at 8 there is a hula class that I might go to... or I might just stay home and watch a movie with the girls...

Can I just say I hate humidity!!!!!!! especially when the sun is already super hot!! Hope you all are having a great day!! here are some more pics 2 from the point and one is the pool
