Day 3 and 4-first day of work!!!

Today was my first day of work... and let me tell you... boy is it nothing like the canyon!! For those who don't know- the canyon is the young life camp I worked at last year... also I am doing housekeeping.... so our day starts at 8:30.. I get there a couple mins early and no one is there..... I learned that if you have to work at 8:30 that means you leave at that time and roll in when you get there ... first thing we do is have a check-in with eachother....today was my training day.. Davey was my trainer... he's been here a little over a year and is from Santa Monica, CA... he was very impressed with my housekeeping skills... it is an adjustment to fold things different ways and to make beds differently... Davey and I were making a queen bed and I was putting the pillow case on and tucked it and he was like woah what did you do that is cool... its like a square... Davey and I finished our stuff and met up with the other group and took a 30 min break... then we had to clean hale 4 which wasn't bad... now its about lunch time.. davey and I are driving back to wash shed and he says... "you did great today but you don't have to go so fast remember your in Hawaii and were slower paced-go at your own speed and have fun- if we get to it we get to it..if not there is always tomorrow" oh yeah and our lunch break is an hour and a half... so at 1:30 I go back to the shed...we have another check-in.... now there is a new shift leader Eva.. She is crazy!!! really funny and just altogether big personality...I walked into the shed after lunch and she is blasting music and dancing away... after check in we went to clean hale 3 which was just remodeled and then we went to a new building that is super nice... its built out of bamboo... then it was about 4 and we were done for the day... So that is what my work day looks like... its extremely chill and slow paced which I will have to get used to... But over all it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the group that I got to work with today.... tonight at 8 there is a hula class that I might go to... or I might just stay home and watch a movie with the girls...

Can I just say I hate humidity!!!!!!! especially when the sun is already super hot!! Hope you all are having a great day!! here are some more pics 2 from the point and one is the pool

Day 2

Last night 2 of the volunteers were throwing fire by the pool so I went down there with my roommate Lauren and watched.  It was pretty cool!  Jai was throwing these in the back of the picture and Melina had a hula hoop that she was tossing around.

Today I woke up and 7:20 got ready to go to breakfast at 7:30.  At 9:00 I went to my first yoga class ever.  It was different but I enjoyed it.  It stretches you really good!  After that I walked to the point!  I read a little and took pictures and just sat and soaked in the beauty that was surrounding me.  Right as I was getting ready to go a local stopped in for a look.  His name is Jared.  Had a good conversation!
The food here is pretty good.  Really healthy food as well....  anyways then I went to the pool and there I got pretty sunburned...  oh yeah and I saw some naked people swimming at the pool today...Yes it was interesting!!..  nothing really else happening today.. just hanging in the community room... I am getting trained in housekeeping tomorrow...  should be lots of fun... I am really excited to start working and to start building relationships with people...

Ah here are some pictures from when I was at the Point today!!!

Day 1

So I just arrived last night at 8 pm.  It was already really dark and it was rainy so I couldn't see much.  The volunteer that picked me up from the airport was pretty cool had good conversation on way to camp.  Then when we got here she brought me to my room.  I am sharing with this girl named Lauren.  She is from Jersey.  She's really nice.  She took me on a walk this morning and showed me the property a little bit.  This morning I met my buddy Marcy.  Haven't really had a chance to talk with her but she is going to be taking me around camp and helping me get to know the area and my job.   The camp is beautiful and everyone is really nice!  My orientation isn't till Friday so I have time to just explore the property and go to workshops.  I start work on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.  Everyone keeps talking about the huge checkin this weekend.  They have like 160 people checking in.  That is huge for them.  I'm thinking that 160..thats cake.. I feel like I'm going to right in here.  Everyone is so laid back and chill...

I will try to check in every few days to give updates.... I will be posting pics.  I am planning to wander to the point later today and take some pictures... Hope you all are having a great day!!
